Happy one-year anniversary to the weekly love posts – I can’t quite believe how fast this time has gone; I can remember sitting down randomly one Sunday and deciding to do these posts, and week on week I’ve managed to stick to writing them.
I love coming back and reminiscing about all of the things I got up to in the next year – so here’s to the next 52!
1. Booking A Trip
Although the Christmas break feels like it was months ago, on Monday whilst I was off work, I booked to go away with my good friends Lily and Erin. If you had told me a couple of years ago that I would have such amazing friends that I would consider going away with that I’ve met as a result of blogging, I never would have believed it, but that’s how amazing the online world is. We’ll be heading to Eindhoven in The Netherlands, and I’m excited for a holiday where no one will roll their eyes when I take a million pictures of my food.
2. Getting Back To Work
I never thought I would be one of those people who was looking forward to getting back to work, but I really enjoyed my first week back. I was exhausted by the end of it, but it was good to see everyone and get back into some sort of regular sleeping pattern.
3. Move In Jan
I set myself a challenge of doing some form of exercise every day in January, whether its a walk around the park, an at-home workout or a gym session, and so far I’ve managed to stick to it. I’m hoping I can keep it up for the rest of the month, but it’s been good for me to kick-start an exercise routine after an indulgent Christmas.
4. Announcing One Of My New Projects
This week, I announced one of my new projects for my blog on Twitter, which will be my newsletter! I’m aiming to get it out every couple of weeks, starting next Sunday. It will be a mixture of other blogs I’ve been loving, things that have been inspiring me and a little sprinkle of anything and everything. You can sign up here.
5. Team Lunch
On Friday, I went for lunch with some of the girls in my company to celebrate my engagement. They also got me a couple of cards and a bottle of bubbly, which I thought was incredibly sweet. We went to Gusto in Alderley Edge and the food was brilliant, and the company even better.
6. Reading Before Bed
One of the things I wanted to start doing for 2018 was to start reading again before bed. I’d like to read about 20 books this year, because I used to read about that many a couple of years ago, which means I need to get a move on. At the moment I’m reading The Girls by Emma Cline and loving it.
On Saturday morning, I went back to my old yoga class with Jacinta as I was feeling quite unflexible after months of not doing any stretching. The class was taught by a different teacher than last time, but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back again soon. It’s a great way to de-stress and start the weekend off with a clear head.
8. Being Vegetarian
It’s only been a week since I decided to go vegetarian (starting with just the month of January) and so far it’s going really well. Jordan is doing it with me, and not only have we not eaten any meat, we’ve also made all our dinners from scratch including fish curry, homemade gnocchi and sweet potato and chickpea pies.
9. Wedding Dresses
On Saturday, I did something incredibly exciting… I tried on my very first wedding dress. I went to Agapé in Altrincham with my mum. It was a completely surreal experience seeing myself in a wedding dress, and the ladies in the shop were so lovely and helpful. I won’t say too much as I want to write a blog all about my experience, but it was like playing dress-up as an adult.
On Sunday afternoon, Jordan and I headed to a couple of wedding venues, not too far from home, to attend their open days. It was really lovely to see them set up for a wedding, and meeting some of the local suppliers. We got little treats from the caterers, which were all delicious and gave us inspiration for what we want for our big day.
