I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a huge jewellery wearer – apart from my engagement and wedding rings, I rarely wear much else but it is something I’ve actively been trying to improve on. To me, jewellery is one of those things that really pulls together an outfit and can lift your look with just a few small pieces, so when Muru Jewellery got in touch and asked if I wanted to try a few bits from their collection, I couldn’t wait to collaborate.
The brand wasn’t one I’d heard of before, but after a couple of minutes on their website, I was in awe of their beautiful pieces and the different ranges they had. Their philosophy is based around empowering and inspiring their wearers and they’ve been creating feel-good jewellery for over 10 years. The founders travelled South America, South East Asia and Japan and discovered new cultures and beliefs which are combined into each Talisman, giving the jewellery a unique twist that can be traced back through history.
To me, a brand like Muru, who have a story related to personal experiences, stands out much more than anything else. Their jewellery is designed at their studio in North London, and are all made in 18ct gold, 18ct rose gold vermeil or sterling silver. All of their necklaces are interchangeable and collectable with different charms and chain lengths for layering and creating different looks each time – perfect if you’re as indecisive as this Gemini!
I decided to go for some new necklaces which I felt would be able to be layered and I could also wear on their own. I chose the plain gold chain in the regular 18” length, the dainty choker necklace and the mini crescent moon necklace in the midi length. It’s fair to say that I could have gone wild on the website as everything was so beautiful and completely different from other brands out there. I’m really happy with my choices though as I felt they could all be layered together and create some really beautiful looks: Also, I always seem to be attracted to things with the moon on, and even my wedding band has one on, so I thought this was an obvious choice for me!
In my bid to wear more rings as well, I ordered the Hamsa Topaz ring, which is the talisman for protection. It may be a symbol you’ve seen before, and after reading that it is believed to bring blessings, power and strength, it was definitely one I saw myself wearing a lot. I thought this piece would work well on my right hand and compliment the other silver-coloured jewellery I wear on my ring finger.
When the parcel arrived, the pieces all came in their own display box, which I thought was a really lovely touch and would be great if you were gifting the pieces to someone else. The price points vary between collections, metal type and chain length, but are really reasonable for the level of quality that you’re receiving. I was also really impressed by the quality of the pieces and the fact you can use the charms on different chain lengths and styles, meaning that you can always create a new look.
If you’re after a piece of new jewellery (or want to treat yourself to more… good work!) then I would definitely recommend giving Muru a try. Their pieces are stunning and so different to other brands you find on the high street, and the meaning and philosophy behind them give them a little something extra, which I personally love.
