Happy bank holiday everyone – I hope you’ve got lots of exciting plans for the free day’s holiday we’re having today (although if the sun was to make an appearance here in Manchester, that would be most welcome!)
Last week went by in a flash, and already I’m sat here writing my weekly love post again, and also, it’s September on Saturday… just how did that happen?
Here is everything I was loving last week.
Ask me to go to an event where there’s gin and I am totally there, so when I was invited on Wednesday evening to the Three River’s distillery in Manchester, I welcomed it with open arms (and an open mouth). I took my friend Charlotte who is a fellow gin lover and we had an amazing time and even got to make our own bottle too. I can’t lie and say I wasn’t feeling it the next day but it was totally worth it and lovely to come away with my very own made gin!
I had a sudden urge to bake on Friday afternoon and had some bananas which were far from edible so I decided to make a banana bread. I hadn’t baked anything in a while and I remembered how much I loved it, plus having the smell of cake to in the house was really rather lovely!
I’ve had an ongoing collaboration with Pizza Hut for the last few months and they very kindly send me some vouchers as a thank you, and on Friday we finally found the time to use them. We toyed with the idea of sitting in the restaurant but decided to take the pizza home and enjoy from the comfort of our own living room. It was a very tasty start to the bank holiday indeed!
This bank holiday weekend was Manchester Pride in the city centre and on Saturday I went to the parade with my friend Africa and then onto the celebrations on Canal Street. It was my first time there and it was one of the most fun days I’ve had all year and I’ll definitely be back for the next one!
As well as the amazing-ness of Pride itself, it was so lovely to spend time with some of my closest friends who usually don’t get together that often and be together celebrating.
On Sunday I went for lunch at one of my favourite restaurants, Yara, for my Dad’s and Nan’s joint birthday. My incredible Nan is 91 and doesn’t look it at all. The food and the company were so lovely and really put me in the best mood.
After seeing my family on Sunday, we drove over to my friend’s house for her 30th birthday celebrations. She’d put on such a spread, with incredible food and drinks, and even flower crowns and a tepee in the back garden which was done out so beautifully. It was really lovely to spend time with some of the girls I used to work with as well.
This week we made a bit of leeway with the wedding. I had two chats with potential florists and even booked my hen do, which are two big things that I’ve been meaning to look into for a while. I can’t believe how fast it’s coming around – 7 and a half months to go!
For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been religiously watching all of Sex And The City which I found on Sky. I got into the series when I was younger and re-watching them again brings back so many memories. It’s still one of my favourite shows and it’s even more interesting watching it as an adult.
What were you loving last week?
