1. Rock Climbing
Because my friend Hannah is a fitness blogger, she gets invited to all kinds of cool events, rock climbing included. On Saturday we headed to Rock Over Climbing just on the outskirts of the city centre for their blogging workshop. This had been in the diary for a while so I’ve had it to look forward to for a few weeks. I hadn’t rock climbed since year 7, and as I was so rubbish then, I was hoping that I would be marginally better this time around. I’ve always been the first to admit that I have no upper body strength, but I actually surprised myself at how high I got. It was tough, but the instructors were really good and patient with us and the rest of the group were lovely. It was really inspiring meeting bloggers who solely focus on fitness (although I did feel a bit out of my depth every so often) and it was interesting to go to an event which was much different to what I’m used to. 100% something that I’ll be doing again.
2. Old Friends
On Saturday night I went for dinner with some of my ‘home’ friends; I call them that because they are the people that I’ve grown up with from around my home town, not people who I have met at university or through work. One of my ‘sort of sort of not’ new year’s resolutions was to make more time for older friends as they’re the ones who know me the best. We all had our world turned upside down together last year, so I think it’s important to spend quality time with people who understand what each other is going through. We had burgers, beers and cocktails, and it was such a lovely evening with some of my favourite people. Can’t wait for the next one!
3. Friday Night Club
This Friday evening was the first time me and my boyfriend had managed to chill out just the two of us since the start of the year. Obviously we’ve seen each other, but it felt like quality time and wasn’t rushed by us needing to go anywhere. We had good food, good wine and a really relaxing evening of just talking and it was exactly what I needed after a full of week of work. Definitely one of the things I want to do more of this year and a really lovely way to start a chilled weekend.
4. Maker’s Market
This is a market that we have been going to since they started back when we were renting a flat in Didsbury in 2014. This particular market was in Knutsford, and is my favourite one. There is a really good mixture of food, drink, arts and craft stalls, and every other person has a dog, which is always a massive plus for me. We ate pies, pizza, macaroons and had samples of lots of different cheeses whilst drinking homemade lemonade. This has become a monthly tradition of ours, but we hadn’t had it to a market since October, so it had been a while!
5. Candescent Lip Balms
I don’t know if you know this about me, but I have constantly dry and chapped lips. They get worse in the winter, but they’re always pretty bad, meaning I always have to have at least two lip balms on me at all times. I was contacted by Candescent Shop, who asked me whether I would like to try their new collection which are homemade with beeswax, coconut oil and vitamin E, and I thought why the hell not! Because they’re so lovely, they sent me 4 to try, and so far I have become obsessed with the orange one. It’s infused with orange oil and just smells amazing. Definitely a brand you should try out if you’re into natural beauty products.
6. Chilled Sunday
I spent Sunday afternoon catching up on YouTube videos, writing this blog and having a nap, and it was great. I’m all about chilled Sunday’s but recently I haven’t had the down time that I really love, and it was great just to have some ‘me’ time and just relax. January managed to be quite a full on month which I wasn’t really expecting, so it’s been nice not to have as many plans for February and focus on myself and what’s coming up for the rest of the year.
Happy Sunday everyone!
