Wedding Talk // One Month To Go!

March 13, 2019

I can’t quite believe I’m writing these words, but it is officially ONE MONTH TO GO UNTIL OUR WEDDING DAY. Where the last 16 months of planning has gone, I really don’t know: It feels like just yesterday I was sharing our engagement story and one year to go posts letting the world know our plans for the big day, and now it’s fast approaching.

Since 2019 hit, I feel as though the time has really sped up and the countdown has become a lot more prevalent when you start to reach single digits of weeks left until you say ‘I do’. In terms of the plans though, I think everything is under control as far as I can tell, and in all honesty, I’m really going to miss planning a wedding when it is over – any engaged brides, get in touch!

The truth is, being engaged has been a whirlwind: I’ve loved every second of embarking on this mini-chapter of our lives, but at the same time, nothing has changed in our relationship. The reason Jordan and I want to get married is to become a team, and start the next part of our lives as our own little family, which we hope to make bigger in the next few years. We hope that being married won’t change anything in our lives (except my surname) and we will still be as strong as we are now.

Being a bride is something I was never really bothered about when I was younger, but since I have been around friends getting married, it is something I am excited about, more so to see all my favourite people in one place; some of them I haven’t seen in a couple of years, and some I’m sure I’ll see the week before! I’ve only been to a handful of weddings in my life, but every time, the happy couple tell me it has been the best day of their lives.

Suffering with anxiety like I do means that I am going to have to take a few extra ‘precautions’ (and Proseccos!) this time next month. I’ve never enjoyed being the centre of attention, and this is the one day that I know we will have to be, but having Jordan by my side will definitely make me feel much more at ease. Even as a bridesmaid I had a bit of a complex about walking down the aisle and having the eyes on you, but I am going to try my best to sit on those feelings and keep telling myself that everyone is there to celebrate our wedding – plus, our aisle isn’t the longest, thank goodness!

To me, the wedding day isn’t even really about us (as much as I would *like* to believe that…) but more bringing together our closest family and friends to celebrate with us, not for us. I am so so thankful that people are making an effort to fly from the other side of the world (literally) to be with us on our special day and take the time out of their busy schedules to see us make our vow to each other.

I had a bit of a wobble at the start of the year with my dress becoming faulty and a couple of other things that were out of our control, but now, the final bits are all coming together, I’ve had my hen do with my favourite people, and I feel all that is left is to make sure that everything is booked and paid for.

I’ve enjoyed planning and writing about my wedding so much, and I’m going to find myself with so much spare time when it is over, I’m sure, and I’ve already been looking into ways in which I can continue to do so – so watch this space!

I want to remember and enjoy every part of the day and not be worried about anything going wrong, because at the end of the day, I’m marrying my best friend and I am so happy to be doing so that nothing else will matter.
