“Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”

I’ve loved going on holiday for as long as I can remember: From 2-week family trips to Spain in the school break to a girls city break, discovering a more untouched part of Europe or a multi-city itinerary for a weekend jaunt – pressing confirm to go away gives me a huge sense of wanderlust.
Getting out of my comfort zone isn’t something that comes naturally to me in day to day life, but when it comes to going to somewhere new and exciting, I get a different type of jittery feeling. From the initial booking of the flights to researching where to go, and finally reaching the destination, my emotions are set to high to discover somewhere new.
It’s only in recent years that I’ve decided to spend more money discovering the world, that my love of travelling has only increased, and I don’t see it dying down any time soon. When you can get cheap air tickets for as little as £10, why wouldn’t you choose to do just that?
There are so many good budget options available out there that you just have to shop around or use a comparison site to get a really good deal. When I think back to the times when it cost me £40 to get home in a taxi from Manchester, and a flight to Hamburg costs me only £20 return, it started to alter the way I made certain choices. Everyone’s life, wants and needs are completely different, that’s the beauty of it.
In recent months, the whole ‘self-care’ movement has become huge, with an emphasis on putting our needs first; to be selfish. We’re encouraged to think about what we want more and more, to listen to our bodies and to not care what other people think of our decisions. I wholeheartedly believe that this has enabled me to think about what I want deep down and put it first, and to me, that’s to go away as much as possible, see new places and broaden my mind.
I know I am very fortunate to be in a position where I can go abroad a lot, and I completely understand that travelling isn’t for everyone. For me personally, it helps me develop as a person, find out things I didn’t know about myself and broadens my mind to the different cultures out there. Life is such an adventure and with it you take so many twists and turns, and I want to have the memories to look back on in years to come.
The world is a crazy and exciting place, and I for one can’t wait to spend my time exploring more of it.
