This week I attended a conference in London and I had such an inspiring day. I love going to London for work events, and as we got a taxi from Euston to The Excel, it felt as though we did a bit of sightseeing as well! The weather was gorgeous and at the end of the day we were treated to some drinks on the River Thames.

I was working from Manchester on Friday and my manager and I decided to treat ourselves to Itsu for lunch as it’s so close to our office. I went for a sushi platter and a sparkling elderflower drink, both of which were delicious. That’s the problem with working in the city centre, the amount of choice for lunch!

Leaving Drinks

It was my friend Laura’s last day on Friday so we all went out for food and drinks after work. We started in the Northern Quarter before going to PLY for pizza. It was a really fun night, but also sad as I’m really going to miss her personality in the office.

On Saturday I took a day trip to Birmingham to see my friend, Noemie, who has been living there for a few months. We wandered through the streets in the sunshine and went to her flat for a Royal Wedding party. Afterwards, we headed out for a drink and some Mexican food, and it was such a fun day.

Royal Wedding

How could I write about this last week without mentioning The Royal Wedding? I absolutely loved it! It’s made me so excited for our big day next year and I thought Meghan looked absolutely stunning. I loved the flower arches and the whole church was just breathtaking – can one my friends marry a prince please?

Great Manchester Run

Although I didn’t do the run this year, I felt so proud of the whole of Manchester taking part. I had a couple of friends who were running and they both did amazingly well. It’s inspired me to start running more and maybe even sign up to one later in the year.

One of my favourite things about the warmer weather is getting the chance to eat ice cream and frozen desserts wherever possible. As the weather was so lovely on Sunday, Jordan and I drove into a little village that we used to live next to for some froyo and it was delicious – I wish they delivered to our house!

On Sunday evening, we went to help out at my friend Charley’s boyfriend’s new restaurant that he’s opening in Chorlton. The place is a bit of a building site, so we helped with painting and cleaning the outside windows – it was all worth it though because we got to see her sausage dog! I can’t wait until the place has opened either as it’s in a great space.

Sunday Dinner

After working up an appetite at the restaurant, we decided to head for some mezze on our way home. We stopped at a place that we always drive past, Damas, and sat outside as the sun was setting. I’ve mentioned before that I love Greek food and this place was delicious too. A perfect way to finish off the weekend.

What were you loving last week?

Happy Monday! I hope you had a lovely 4-day week and weekend – not long until the next bank holiday, and it feels as though the weather is definitely taking a turn for the better!

Here’s everything I was loving last week.

Leamington Spa

As Monday was bank holiday, Jordan and I took a drive from Warwick (where we stayed on the Sunday night) to Leamington Spa, which was only about 15 minutes away. It reminded me of parts of London and Bath mixed together, but it was such a lovely place and somewhere I would definitely go back to. We had brunch sat in the sunshine and it was a lovely way to spend the last day of the bank holiday.

Team Lunch

On Tuesday, my team and I went to Yara in Alderley Edge as we were in a 7-hour long meeting. It was such a lovely meal (and a very much needed break) and we all managed to catch up properly as a whole team. We shared a few different mezze dishes and had a main each, and there was so much left that a few of us took it back to work for the next day.

I met my gal pal, Jacinta, on Tuesday evening to head to the cinema to see I Feel Pretty with Amy Schumer. I can’t remember the last time I went to the cinema, but the film was so good and it was nice to do something different on an evening – and always good to catch up with a friend.

Jordan and I were invited to try the newly refurbished Gusto in Didsbury village on Thursday night. We both went for three courses (obvs) and the staff were so lovely and even took me into the kitchen to meet the chefs and see some of the food being prepared. Gusto has always been one of my favourite chains and it didn’t disappoint this time either!

Mum’s Birthday

On Friday it was my Mum’s birthday so we drove over to my cousins where some of my family were having a little party for her for the evening. We had nibbles and a birthday cake and all sang happy birthday to her! I love spending time with my family, and every time I see them I wish we were able to see each other more, especially now all the kids are growing up so fast!

A few of the work girls and I had been planning a bottomless brunch for a few weeks at Rosylee in Manchester, but it just had to be the weekend that I’d started antibiotics for my tooth so unfortunately, I couldn’t have a drink… pray for me! It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon though – we’ll just have to do another one soon!

Jordan and I thought it would be a good idea to go for a walk on Sunday morning as the sun was shining. We walked to Chorlton Water Park which is one of our favourite spots and spent a couple of hours basking in the sunshine – a great way to start the day off.

Family Sunday

If you didn’t know this about me, I’m a quarter Australian! On Sunday, my second cousin came over from Melbourne with his wife and we had a family gathering at my Nan’s on my Dad’s side of the family. After hearing all of their stories about Australia, I’m making it my mission to get out there in the next couple of years.

What were you loving last week?

Happy bank holiday Monday everyone!

I hope you’ve all had the best time, basking in the sunshine and enjoying the fact that we still have another day off before we go back to work – I for one am a huge fan of a bank holiday weekend, and this one has been no different!

And here is everything I was loving last week!

Primark Dresses

Last weekend I bought a couple of midi dresses from Primark, but I didn’t get chance to wear them until this week. I went for them both as I usually don’t go for midi dresses because I’m not the tallest, but I love these and they’ve come in handy when it’s been a bit warmer. I got one in orange, which is very unlike me, and a pale pink with a palm tree print on.

Tre Ciccio

On Thursday, I was invited to review Tre Ciccio in Altrincham. I’ve been once before to their launch and loved it, so I knew I was in for a treat. I took Jordan with me and we had such a lovely meal – their pizzas are incredible, and it’s lovely to see it doing so well in my hometown too! Full review coming soon so keep an eye out for it.

Adagio Teas

A couple of weeks ago, the lovely people from Adagio teas got in touch with me and asked if I wanted to sample some of their offerings, which obviously I said yes to as an avid tea drinker. Some of the flavours sound amazing, including lemon meringue, chocolate chip and matcha. So far I’ve only tried the vanilla and summer rose, but they’ve both been lovely and I can’t wait to try more.

Mackie Mayor

On Friday evening, Jordan and I went for a couple of drinks with some of our old work friends to Mackie Mayor in Manchester. We managed to get a table almost straight away, and it was great to catch up with them all – plus, Mackie Mayor is one of my favourite places to go!

Saturday In The Sun

This Saturday, I met up with two of my work friends for a drink in the sunshine. We met in Manchester and went to St. Anne’s Square which had a pop-up bar there called The Greenhouse. We sat outside with a jug of Pimms and it was a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

Friend Times

After the Pimms, I made my way over to Media City to meet up with another group of friends and we sunbathed with G&Ts on the grass they have there. We chose to go here because it was quieter than going into Manchester, and it was nice to do something different. We went to Rudy’s afterwards, which I’ve been wanting to go to for ages, and then to a Margarita festival at Albert Hall next door.

Old English

I was contacted by Old English earlier in the week and asked to pick out a couple of bits for their new collection. I’d heard of the brand before, but I’d never really looked on their website, but it was full of cute little bits and bobs. I went for a couple of prints and a badge, and I can’t wait for them to arrive!

Yesterday, Jordan and I drove down to Warwick for an overnight stay at The Globe. We wandered around the town when we first got here and up to the castle and chilled in the hotel room for a bit too. We were very kindly treated to dinner in the restaurant downstairs, which was delicious. I’ll be writing up my mini guide when I’m back at home!

What were you loving last week?

Welcome back to another Weekly Love post, and happy last day of April!

I really enjoy sitting down on a Sunday and reflecting on all the little things that made me smile over the week, and I love reading them back and reminiscing on all of the memories I’ve made this year so far.

Here are all the things I was loving last week.

This past couple of weeks I’ve been making the most of the warmer weather and running outside. I’m not the best runner by any means, and I damaged my knee a couple of years ago so I have to be careful, but I’ve really been enjoying it. I prefer running outdoors so much more than being in the gym and it’s nice to do something outside when I’ve been in the office all day.

After Work Drinks

Jordan starts his new job this week, so on Friday evening, I went to his leaving drinks in Altrincham with a few people I used to work with. It was lovely to see some old faces and meet some of the people that have started since I left and catch up with everyone.

After the work drinks, I met my friend Abi for dinner at a Lebanese restaurant in Hale, which is one of my favourites. The food was amazing, and it was lovely to spend some time with her as she’s also getting married next year.

Life Admin

I ended up having a few hours to myself on Saturday so I did some very much needed life admin. I finished a couple of posts I’ve been putting off for a while, which felt really good and took some photos for a collaboration that I’ve got going live next week.

*Cue adult update* – My Nutribullet broke a couple of weeks ago so this week we bought a new one from Tesco. It’s their own brand one, but it does the job and is only £16. Now summer is around the corner, I want to get into the habit of eating a bit better and upping my fruit and veg intake, so this is the perfect place to start

As we’ve had a couple of colder evenings, I started lighting candles again in the house. I bought an apple orchard one last autumn from Zara Home and it’s been in the cupboard ever since so this week I thought was the perfect time to get it out as it smells so springy.

Hasn’t the blossom started coming out on the trees a lot more this week? I’ve noticed it so much more in the last couple of days and every time I see it, it makes me excited for the next couple of months and spending more time outdoors.

Family Sunday

It was my Nan’s birthday on Friday so Jordan and I went round on Sunday for lunch and to spend some time with my family. We had a great selection of food (anyone else’s Nan make enough food for the whole street?) and a birthday cake at the end. After seeing my side of the family, we went over to my future in-laws for a cup of tea and a catch-up and it rounded the week off perfectly.

Paperless Post

I recently started thinking about our invites and save the dates that we wanted to send out seen as the wedding is less than a year away now, when the lovely people at Paperless Post got in touch to offer me some tokens for their website. This week I designed and sent the first lot of our save the dates our electronically which saved me so much hassle, and you can even collate replies and chase people up who haven’t RSVPed – perfect if you’re trying to work to a budget.

Old English Co.

Old English Co. got in touch with me to talk about a competition they’re holding to win a set of adorable enamel pins. The competition is open until the 20th May and you won’t want to miss out because they really are sweet! The details can be found here and the whole range can her found here – good luck!

What have you been loving this week?

I hope you all had a lovely, weekend. This last week has whizzed by, which was nice because it was my first full week back in work since the middle of March!

And the weather has just put the biggest smile on my face. Everything looks so lovely when it’s sunny and it puts everyone in such a good mood. I hope it’s just a taster of what’s to come.

Here are all the things I was loving last week.

I had a voucher for a local beauty parlour so I decided to treat myself and get my nails done on Tuesday evening. I gave myself a break after having gels for most of last year back in January, and I thought that I didn’t miss it until I had them done. Now I think it’s going to have to be some sort of monthly treat for myself – treat yo-self right?

As you may know, I was nominated for a Lovin Manchester Social Media award for best lifestyle blogger and the awards ceremony was on Wednesday evening at the Hilton. I went with my friend Lily and also met Gabi before for a drink who was also up in the same category. Although I didn’t win, it was lovely to catch up with some friends and see the gorgeous sunset from 23 stories high.

I mean, it’s a given this week that the sunshine was been BLOODY BRILLIANT but really, hasn’t it just? It’s put me in the best mood and I feel much more productive when it’s out. I’ve even been sleeping better and waking up before my alarm.

Junkyard Golf

On Thursday I had a training day in Manchester and we played Junkyard Golf afterwards. I’d been to it once before but it’s since moved to another part of Manchester. It was really lovely to spend time with my wider team, and because the weather was so lovely, we had some drinks outside too.

Martin Miller’s Gin

After Junkyard Golf, I walked over to King Street Townhouse for the Martin Miller’s gin event. I was there slightly early so went up to the south terrace on the 6th floor which overlooks Manchester. It was absolutely stunning and I really want to go for a spa day there, which is on the floor above. The event was really fun and we got to try the different strengths of gin and make our own gin and tonics; they also treated us to a bottle in the goodie bag!

Come Dine With Me

It was our next ‘Alphabet Come Dine With Me’ on Friday evening, which is pretty good for us seen as the last one was also this month – we’re busy people, so we usually have at least a month or two before each letter. This time around it was T for Thailand and it was delicious. I’m a huge fan of Thai food too!

Date Day

As the weather was so lovely, Jordan and I went into Manchester for a bit of a date day. We started off with drinks at Patron in the sunshine before moving on to a few more bars and dinner at PLY. It was such perfect sunshine and it was really nice to spend some time together just the two of us.

On Sunday morning, a few of the We Blog North girls and I had organised a surprise baby shower for our good friend Holly. We went to Tea Hive in Chorlton and it was a great morning. She had some lovely presents to open and the food was great. Next time we see her she’ll have a little baby and I can’t wait!

What have you been up to this week?
