This week has been a strange one. I spent Monday with a bit of holiday blues, and by the middle of the week, I managed to pick up the stomach flu, which meant that I was out of action for a couple of days and had a pretty chilled weekend compared to my others this month.
Saying that, I always try and find the best in bad situations and that’s just what I did this week. Here is everything I was loving!
I decided at the last minute to take Monday off work so I could sort a few bits out and catch up on sleep (although the cats had other ideas). I ended up chilling in the park, going on a long walk and crossing off some of the niggly jobs that have been filling up my to-do list for far too long – a productive day off indeed!
Whilst I was away, the boys I was with made it their mission to watch as much football as humanly possible, and I won’t lie, there were times that I found it a bit too much watching match after match; however, since being home and watching England play twice, and having some of the matches on at work I’ve really been getting into it!
It’s not often that the urge to cook strikes me, but this week I found myself in the kitchen a lot more, and I really enjoyed it. I decided to whip up some homemade falafels after I found an easy recipe in one of my cookbooks, and we just happened to have all the ingredients – don’t you just love when that happens!
Lean Body Project
Fitness isn’t something I talk about a lot on here, but it is a big part of my weekly routine, and it’s really important for my mental health. This week, the girls from work talked me into joining a 3-week challenge to try and kick-start a healthier living routine, which I definitely need after a lot of over-indulging in June. As I was ill this week though, I could only make it to two of the classes, but I’m hoping to really get stuck in this week.
On Friday evening, my friend Phil and I went to London to watch Liam Gallager in concert at Finsbury Park. I love Finsbury Park as a venue and he was absolutely brilliant live. It was the second time I’d seen him, but this time was by far the best, and definitely up there with one of the best live shows I’ve ever been to.
On Saturday, it was my friend’s 30th birthday, so we went round to his parent’s house in the evening. I still wasn’t feeling my best by this point, but it was really lovely to see everyone and spend time with their families and catch up.
I still wasn’t feeling great on Sunday, so I decided to cancel the plans I had and spend a day in bed, catching up on Youtube, writing a few blogs and scheduling my monthly newsletter (which you can sign up for here if you do so wish!) It was definitely a day that my body was telling me to stay in and chill, and I’m hoping I’ll see the end of this illness soon.
I’ve had a couple of emails this week which have given me butterflies, and I’m really looking forward to sharing the finished results over the next few months.
I’m not going to lie, when I came back from Dubai, I was really looking forward to some cooler weather, but the UK wasn’t playing ball and instead, we’ve had temperatures up to 32 degrees. At the start of the week I didn’t really make the most of the heatwave, but it’s definitely put a smile on my face waking up to glorious sunshine every day.
What have you been loving this week?
